Visit to "Hand&Lock" London, UK

 Visit to "Hand&Lock" London, UK

While visiting Great Britain  I was anxious to visit an atelier where the traditions of needle working are preserved and still in use. I was fortuned to find such a place in London and was very grateful to the communications Manager Robert McCaffrey  for welcoming me to "Hand & Lock".   Hand & Lock have been producing the world’s finest hand embroidery since 1767. They cover a wide range of niche markets from Civilian and Military Regalia through to Ecclesiastical and Couture. Their embroidery is done a such a way that it almost alive.
Enjoy a few pictures from this historical atelier and learn more about it at http://www.handembroidery.com/

The cabinet containing the threads for customers to choose from.

"Hand&Lock" produces a variety of ribbons with different amount of golden thread in them. Some have so much in them that they are heavy and cold on touch.

Their one of the kind goldwork.

For years the Savile row tailors have been sending shirts to Hand & Lock to have fine letters stitched into the fabric.

Photoreport from the visit to the Lochcarron of Scotland

I recently enjoyed a visit to "Lochcarron of Scotland" - historical tartan mill that was established in 1859. It is located in Selkirk, Scottish Boarders. The factory still operates and produces gorgeous tartan fabric. To learn more about the company visit its web page http://www.lochcarron.co.uk/
Here are a few pictures from my visit. Enjoy.
